london through its neighborhoods: covent garden

After my morning geneological adventure, I caught the Tube into town and started noticing all the placards around advising you on your behavoir…am I the only one who’s put off by that?

I wandered over to Covent Garden, which wound up being a huge shopping mecca – cheap souvenirs, nice souvenirs, international chains, tiny little boutiques…

It was quite charming, actually.

Looking through these photos a week later, I realised that the man waving looks just like someone I used to date. Creepy.

Outside of the main covered market, there was a street performer out with an 8′ unicycle.

He drew a pretty large crowd.

There’s a plethora of food shops inside the market, so I stopped at the Battersea Pie Station and picked up a butternut squash & goat cheese pie (the best food combination ever!)

But decided to find a nicer place to eat than in the midst of a food hall.

Told you.

I came across a tiny courtyard that was all vibrant colours and anthropological knick-knacks (and backrubs!).

Leicester Square wound up being the perfect place to sit on the grass, enjoy the pie and just people watch.

Can’t I do this every day?

Hey Naomi, I think we were meant to cross writing paths – this is my old neighbourhood!! I just moved from London to Melbourne last week & it was so great to look through your London pics. LOVE your photos!

I’m looking for new excuses to get back to London. Like that colourful courtyard. Where did you find it?
